The Blessing of Being Under Authority
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 23 2011)
Series: Prayer
Joshua had a mighty task before him. God chose him to lead the forces of Israel in the conquest of Canaan, but he was not alone in the fight. As he surveyed the situation at Jericho, he met the Captain on the ground, the Lord Himself. The battle was the Lord's and He had the battle plan. Joshua need only line himself and the forces of Israel up under the mighty hand of God and see the deliverance of the Lord. We are in a battle today, and the Lord has not left us to devise our own battle plans. We have the Spirit of the Lord within us and various authorities providentially placed about us. We too have only to line up under these directing, protecting authorities that we might experience the blessings of divine deliverance. The role of authority in our lives is sadly misunderstood and therefore viewed as a restrictive burden rather than a channel of divine assistance. This faulty thinking greatly hinders the flow of God's blessing as well as the joy we can experience in the service of the Lord at home, at work and in our local churches.
The Wonder of Intercession
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 22 2011)
Series: Prayer
Few would argue the value of intercessory prayer, and yet where are the intercessors? God looked for them in Isaiah's day and our text says He found none. Why are so few involved in this vital activity of praying? What does God do to get people involved as intercessors? What does in mean to be an intercessor? These questions and others are answered in this timely message.
Praying Effectively for the Lost
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 21 2011)
Series: Prayer
In our efforts to win the lost to Christ, we are often confused about how to pray. For one, we must realize that we do not pray to convince God, He wants the lost to be saved more than we do. Secondly, we must understand who the real enemy is in this battle. The unsaved have been blinded about their condition, and bound by a number of strongholds that keep them from trusting Christ. The purpose of our prayers is not to force their will but rather to free their will so that they can clearly see the reality of their condition and comprehend the truth that can set them free.
The Measure of Faith
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 20 2011)
Series: Prayer
God doesn't want us to be bound by fear but rather bolstered by faith. The importance of the way we think about ourselves is critical when it comes to obtaining answers from God. In this passage we discover three basic ways of thinking: the way of sin, the way of law and the way of grace. Only grace will enable us to think properly concerning ourselves. When we understand that God has a work for us to do and a measure of faith with which we can expect Him to accomplish it through us, we can experience a joy and completeness as we serve Him each day.
Abraham's Relationship to the Promise of God
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 20 2011)
Series: Prayer
God spoke to Abraham with an amazing promise. What transpired in the next 25 years following this promise provides us with some excellent insights into the believer's relationship to the promises of God. The truths illustrated in this story can be readily applied to the promises God has made to each of us as New Testament believers.
Praying in the Spirit
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Mar 20 2011)
Series: Prayer
In the beginning God designed man as a three-part being; he has a physical body with which to act, a spirit with which he communicates with God, and a soul, made up of mind, will and emotions with which he decides. In that original creation, man was designed with an intimate connection with God Himself. The spirit of man was informed by God, his soul took what God said and set the body in motion to fulfill the will of God. When man fell in the garden, the spirit died and the soul was left to hear only from the body. If we are to pray in the Spirit, we must be born again so that the Holy Spirit can inform and empower us to exercise dominion on earth according to the will of God.
The Power of Living Under Authority
by Pastor Mark Gilmore of Falls Baptist Church (Jul 28 2010)
Pastor Gilmore delivers a challenge to fight back against the cultural conditioning that God is not doing much today in our world. The truth of the matter is, there are great moves of God taking place all over our world right now. We should not have a defeated attitude, remember - Satan is the defeated foe. On the heels of this challenge he taught the principle of authority. We are empowered by God, the source of all authority, when we choose to operate under that authority. This is not something we should seek to shed or live independent of, but rather embrace and experience the power and protection God meant for our lives and ministries to prosper.
