Prevailing Prayer at Gethsemane
by Bob Graham (Apr 17 2011)
Series: Prayer
Gethsemane, the "olive press", the scene of a mighty struggle in prayer that none of us will ever completely understand, but for which all of us can certainly be thankful. It was here that Jesus was pressed beyond measure and from the conflict emerged the sweet oil of glad submission that enabled our Savior to drink the bitter cup He would face at Calvary and thereby secure the salvation for all that would call upon His name. Though we may never experience the pressures that were present in this late night time of prayer, we can be sure that there will be times in our lives when we too will need to stay, struggle, persist until self is purged, strength is obtained and victory is secured. This is the very nature of prevailing prayer.

by Bob Graham (Apr 3 2011)
Series: Prayer
There is nothing like a big problem to teach a godly man how to pray. Asaph was facing a serious calamity in his day. The nations round about Israel were planning to wipe Israel off the map. Asaph took up his rightful position in the Lord, and began to pray aggressively. But the tune of his prayer appears to alter as he brings it to a close. Why was his fiery passion to anihilate the enemy tempered with a desire for them to seek the Lord? Listen to see how prayer changed the pray-er.
