Are You An Empty Bucket or a Bubbling Brook?

The story of the Woman at the Well is a wonderful illustration of the impact an individual can have upon many others when the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ genuinely changes them. This dear lady came to Jesus with an empty bucket, looking to fill it and once again quench her physical thirst. Little did she know that the man sitting by that well was able to supply her with much more than another drink of water. He spoke to her of a well of living water that would spring up within her and satisfy the very thirst of her soul. She met the Christ that day, left her old empty bucket behind and immediately began to bring others to that blest fountain.

Why On Earth Am I Here?

For thousands of years, man has been puzzled with this very simple question - Why Am I Here? The reason there is so much confusion about the matter is due to the fact that men have attempted to answer the question from their own perspective. Philosophers and Self-Help authors have produced tons of literature on the subject, but the bulk of their rhetoric ignores the testimony of the God who created them. The Word of God gives clear testimony regarding our purpose on earth. Anyone who cares to know, can find the answers there. This message presents seven clear cut purposes of life for each and every person on planet earth.

Following the Lord in Love

Peter and the disciples were confused. Even though they saw the resurrected Lord, they were still disillusioned by all that had transpired in the last month or so. Peter, decided he must do something, so in his own self-will he decided he would return to fishing. The other disciples, discouraged and disillusioned as well followed Peter. After a long night without any fish, someone from shore asked a vaguely familiar question - Children, have ye any meat? No, was their reply. Cast your net on the other side of the boat. Lo and behold, their nets were full of fish. John said, it is the Lord. The meeting on the shore was a difficult one for Peter, but Jesus used the time to refocus his erring disciple. Jesus knew that Peter's faulty followship was linked to his failing love. He addresses both in this most revealing dialog and reclaims Peter for a lifetime of usefulness.

You Cannot Stop a Real Resurrection

When the Pharisees and the chief priests came to Pilate asking for a watch to be put in place to prevent any foul play regarding the body of Jesus, they didn't take into account the power of God. They set the stone, secured a watch and did all they could, but you cannot stop a real resurrection. The same power of God that raised Jesus up from the dead is available to any and every believer who will avail himself of it. The God who has promised to resurrect us when we face our time of death, has also promised the same resurrection power to live a new life here on planet earth.

Where Did I Come From?

Where did we come from? Thousands of years ago, men tried to answer this question through various myths, today men have sought to answer it through science. Charles Spurgeon said back in 1877, "What is science? The method by which man tries to conceal his ignorance. It should not be so, but so it is." The fact of the matter is, many of our so-called scientists have been indoctrinated with beliefs of secular humanism and serve it religiously, even to the point that they completely neglect the testimony of Almighty God. In spite of what science reports, we do have the answer to this question. God has not left us without testimony to this foundational question. Though we lack the witness of men on the scene, we clearly have the witness of the One who was not only present, but the active agent in all that was created.

Who Am I?

The seven sons of Sceva attempted to perform an exorcism on a demon possessed individual based on something they heard the Apostle Paul say in a similar situation. The evil spirits quickly replied, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?" They obviously didn't have a viable answer and the outcome was extremely embarassing.
If this same question was posed to you, what would you say? Do you know who you are? If you are a Christian, do you have any idea who you are? We're not talking about opinion; we're talking about the truth according to the Word of God. We need to know who we are!

God's Cure for Anxious Care

Worry is killing us! Our hospitals and health institutions are filled with people whose problems are closely linked to their destructive habits of anxious care. The good news is that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us the cure for anxiety in His famous Sermon on the Mount. Jesus addresses the issue of undue concern over our food, our fitness, our fashion and our future. Then He provides three valuable factors for us to consider in our struggle to win the battle over our divided thoughts.

The Floods May Come, But God Stands Sure

Psalm 93 is short, but its message is vital! The Lord reigns, He always has. He is clothed with majesty and strength. And the floods come, they often will, and every one of us will experience them in one way or another. But the good news is that God is mightier than the floods. His Word if very sure, His character is very pure, and He allows the floods of life so that we, His people might be purified on the other side of our floods in life.

Living Unto God

The 6th Chapter of Romans makes it abundantly clear that the purpose of our Christian life is to live unto God. The death of Christ for us was to place the life of Christ in us. Christ lived an uninterrupted life unto God, He fulfilled the will of God in the power of the Holy Spirit. Believers have been spiritually birthed for the same purpose. However, we are hindered by one main problem...SIN. If we are to live unto God, we will have to address the issue of sin. We need to call it what God calls it, reckon ourselves dead indeed unto it, confess and forsake it, and then yield ourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead.

Follow Me, And I Will Make You Fishers of Men

Jesus called His disciples with a rather succinct statement, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. In this passage, He was speaking to fishers of fish, but He was calling them to something far more significant then merely putting food on the table. Jesus call, as simple as it was, reveals our Lord's intent, a promise of instruction, and an implication for all who would follow Him faithfully. Listen carefully, for all of us who name the name of Christ, are also called to be fishers of men.
